Assessment

The assessment of the learners at St Bernadette's involves compliance with the current mandated reporting system and is across all Key Learning Areas including Religious Education. St Bernadette's engages in open and ongoing communication involving the relevant teachers, the child and the parents regarding the learner's achievement. While there is active, formal communication and conference with parents, learner and relevant teachers, communication regarding the learner's progress is not restricted to the formal reporting times.

Formal reporting currently occurs twice a year. Parents and/or caregivers are welcome to make appointments to discuss their child's progress at need throughout the year. The class teachers may also organise these. These are of a less formal nature, however this is not to diminish their importance.

Before the end of Term Two, there is a written report provided to all parents and/or caregivers and a scheduled parent/teacher/learner conference.

Before the end of Term Four, there is a written report provided to all parents and/or caregivers.

Years 3 and 5 participate in the NSW Basic Skills Test. Parent information regarding the test and results are distributed once these have been assessed.

Some learners from Year 3 to Year 6 voluntarily participate in a number of the International Schools Competitions. Results and achievements are distributed to parents once these have been assessed by the organisation responsible.
